Outline of the Laboratory of Intelligent Communications
Yusuke Ohwatari
graduated from the Laboratory of Intelligent Communications in the 2006 academic year
I received guidance from professors and senior students not only about the details of my research, but also attitudes toward or ways of thinking about research, and as a result, I could follow a path as a researcher. That was the best for me. I still continue research in a company because of what I learned as a student.
Q1What did you learn in the laboratory? What do you think is helpful for your current job?
In the laboratory, I received guidance from professors and senior students not only about the details of my research but also attitudes toward or ways of thinking about research, and as a result, I could follow a path as a researcher. That was the best for me. I still continue research in a company because of what I learned as a student. With regard to my field of research, I still conduct research in the same field as in my school days. All I learned there can be applied in my current job.
Q2Why did you choose this division and this laboratory?
I chose Hokkaido University, where wireless systems can be studied, because I was interested in wireless communication when I took the college entrance exams, and I joined the division (then Division of Electronics Engineering) with wireless-related laboratories. For laboratory placement, I chose the laboratory run by Professor Ogawa and Associate Professor Ohgane who give the lecture on Communications, the field that interested me most as an undergraduate.
Q3Your future goal and a message for your juniors
I would like to move on as a researcher using what I learned as a student.
For junior fellows, I hope you will enjoy research in your field of interest. Of course, there are things that you can only experience while you are students. Enjoy them, too!
