Outline of the Laboratory of Information Media Environment
Takashi Hoshino
graduated from the Super Computing and Media Integration Field (present Laboratory of Information Media Environment) in the 2004 academic year
I now work as an engineer at broadcasting company, and the programming skills I learned in the laboratory are very helpful because most graphic devices used for broadcasting are actively developed in-house.
Q1What did you learn in the laboratory? What do you think is helpful for your current job?
In the laboratory, I studied 3D computer graphics. I now work as an engineer at broadcasting company, and the programming skills I learned in the laboratory are very helpful because most graphic devices used for broadcasting are actively developed in-house. In the laboratory, the students managed the server network, and knowledge about it is also now helpful with the construction, operation and management of in-house networks.
Q2Why did you choose this division and this laboratory?
I was interested in 3D computer graphics from the time when I entered university. I was particularly eager to research data visualization algorithms and create programs by myself. That’s why I chose this laboratory where I could do just that.
Q3Your future goal and a message for your juniors
Information technology is updating day by day. In the broadcasting industry, conventional tape media are being replaced by networked file system gradually, and IT-based smart devices are introduced one after another. As is often said, I’d like to continue studying on a daily basis to keep up with technology.
