IJCAI 2018
The biggest AI conference so far
IJCAI-ECAI 2018 as a part of FAIM (Federated AI Meeting)

I took part in this historic conference, but it seems every AI-related top conference will now have record-high number of submissions and participants. There were over 7000 submissions for AAAI 2019 so the trend may stay until the next AI winter :)

Human and a robot dancing for the conference opening.

Traditionally IJCAI held some "humans vs AI" competitions. Chess above and my colleagues from ANU below with Angry Birds challenge!

My workshop (LACATODA 2018) also had an unprecedented number of submission, partly because it was the only NLP-related workshop that was accepted. It led to a very high levelof papers and I'm happy about it. I'm not sure about organizing it next year - I have promised to organize EDO workshop at the LTC conference in Poznan, so if you plan to send your paper to see me at Macao, consider going to Poland instead (I will hopefullyparticipate in IJCAI 2019 anyway).
Thanks to Magnus Ahltorp for taking a picture of me chairing the workshop!

Speaking of Magnus, I also visited our partner University, KTH at Stockholm. We are sending one of our lab students for the exchange, I have confirmed the study environment is friendly :)
