{"id":3919,"date":"2023-10-03T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ist.hokudai.ac.jp\/labo\/photonics\/?p=3919"},"modified":"2024-02-19T15:30:29","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T06:30:29","slug":"course-introduction-to-freshmen-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ist.hokudai.ac.jp\/labo\/photonics\/?p=3919&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Course introduction to freshmen students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We conducted a course introduction to the freshmen on Friday, September 29th, 2023.<br>In this event, senior students who have already started research life introduce their research topic to the freshmen, who are selecting their course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We held a poster exhibition, showcased an intro. movie of our lab., and conducted a demonstration of our research (display of chips and wafers of Photonic IC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">* Glossary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Photonic IC chip: These are optical circuits integrated onto a Si chip, each about the size of thumbnail. &#8216;IC&#8217; stands for integrated circuits. During our demonstration, visitors had the opportunity to observe specific optical circuit devices using a microscope. (Left in the picture)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wafer: A Si plate with disk shape, which is just before cutting the optical IC chip.
