Optical MIMO

In optical communication technology, mode division multiplexing (MDM) is one of important techniques. Individual modes in the fiber have different latencies and interfered each other similar to multipath fading of radio signal propagation. The compensation in the received device may be called, optical MIMO, where optical signals are generally converted to electric signals to apply the standard signal processing supported by DSP. However, in the opto-electric conversion, the energy consumption and latency are not negligible.

Here, we proposed optical MIMO device using microring resonator. We are now proceeding toward realization of silicon optical DSP.
