Room A11, 1st Floor, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology Building
NOHARA Taisei, third-year doctoral student

The Graduate School of Information Science and Technology welcomes faculty members from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Technology Sydney as cross-appointed faculty at Hokkaido University. They serve as secondary advisors, guiding students in their research. Specifically, we hold an annual student workshop where participants present their research in English approximately once a year and receive feedback on their work.
Building on this student workshop, we recently sent a doctoral student on a short-term dispatch to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, our partner institution. This short-term dispatch followed a structured format: based on the research presented at the workshop, the associate advisors identified suitable host laboratories. Students then interned at these labs, conducting research on-site. Following their return, they continued discussions remotely with their advisors.

This report session introduced the framework for CCB-facilitated overseas cross-appointment faculty supervision and featured a presentation by NOHARA Taisei, third-year doctoral student who actually participated in the University of Massachusetts Amherst stay.
