CLDC 2012

Although I have officially studied Cognitive Science between 1999 and 2001, I have never spoke in front of the field's audience. So it was my pleasure to give a talk on my approach to Machine Ethics at the CLDC 2012 in Taiwan. Next step will be to present my work at CogSci 2012 - in Sapporo!

CLDC 2012

I was really surprised by the number of questions I had. The main misunderstanding was caused by another speaker who gave an example sentence (approx.) "body of a Colorado girl was found in a suitcase in Minnesota" and said that there is no emotion in it and will never be. I had no time to explain it, but of course, I agree. This sentence must be associated with other facts and emotional reactions, must become atriggerfor the search. That's what my system looks for - associations. And common sense knowledge about distances should become a perfect intensifier. A quick comparison of occurrences - "body in a suitcase" will appear together with word "horrifying" 99 times more often than with "wonderful".

Visiting Taiwan was a good pretext to renew contact with National Taiwan University team for Chinese ConceptNet, my best regards to Miss Yen-Ling Kuo for her kind help!
