After years of spending Xmas Eve at home, this year we have been invited to a bigger party. There should be twelve traditional dishes on a Polish Christmas Eve table, and it is hard to meet this tradition while living in Japan, but if there are more participants, ut's much easier. We always make two kinds of pierogi from scratch (bay boletes or porcini+sauerkraut, and potato+cottage cheese) so this time we made more!
Bigos, krokiety, barszcz, jarzynowa, pierogi, feels almost like back home (real bread is missing but recently you can find sour bread at Costco!)Fun fact: to make the production of pierogi faster, it became a standard to replace the traditional decorative edge shown on the left with simple finger presses (the dumpling on the right). This makes them less pretty, but it makes the work twice as fast, which matters when making a few hundred pieces by hand.Santa dropped by when kids went outside for a snowball fight 🎅🌲🎁
